Star Wars Trilogy DVD Midnight Release

September 20th, 2004 : Coast-to-coast from British Columbia to Nova Scotia

September 21st, 2004--a date long anticipated by Star Wars fans worldwide.

Unless you've been stuck in the Delta Quadrant you'd know that this marked the day that the Star Wars Original Trilogy was released on DVD.

To help promote this release, Fox Canada held a Canada-wide midnight sale at various HMV locations on September 21st. The 501st.ca was asked to help secure the locations and entertain the many anxious fans waiting to be the first few to get their hands on the long awaited DVDs.

In Nova Scotia, TB6669 reports that a great time was had by all at their HMV event which went on for two nights. This store was literally the first in North America to sell the DVD.

From Victoria, British Columbia, TK0773 reports that they sucessfully secured the Hillside and Mayfair HMV locations for several days. They had a lot of fun at both locations and the HMV staff was very enthusiastic to our pressence.

In downtown Toronto, local members of the 501st.ca added to the Star Wars atmosphere at HMV's Yonge Street location. As usual, we drew the attention of many passers-by, including the folks on a large tour bus that slowed down for a closer look! I would have liked to have listened in on the tour guide's commentary! Our presence even garnered us a small news segment on CityTV.

501st.ca would like to thank Fox Canada and HMV for having given us the chance to participate in this Star Wars DVD release. It gave us yet another opportunity to interact with fans who love the movies as much as we do!
