December 11, 2004: Rochester, New York State, USA
December 11th brought the return of MookieCon's fundraising efforts for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
A few members of the Canadian Garrison made the journey down to Rochester, USA to support the event which was hosted by our Rebel friend, Mookie. It also gave us a chance to obtain intelligence on this fugitive (Mookie is on the 501st.ca's Wanted List).
The fundraising began in the morning at the local FYE store (similar to Futureshop up here in Canada). For US$3, store patrons could get a picture taken with a costumed character from the Star Wars, Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter universe.
This same fundraising activity continued later that evening at Don Pablos Mexican restaurant. In addition, a certain percentage of drink sales that night were donated to the fundraising effort. Raffle tickets were also sold, with the proceeds going to Make-A-Wish.
In total, more than US$1000 was raised for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Thanks go out to Amanda and Kelly of Make-A-Wish. Special thanks must go to our friend Mookie for going the extra distance in organizing this event and being a wonderful host.
