Ep2 DVD Release / Make-A-Wish (aka MookieCon 2002) November 9, 2002: Rochester, NY, USA

Last year, a couple of us from the Canadian Garrison visited our Rebel friend, Mookie, down in his hometown of Rochester, New York to help out with some fund-raising for the "Make-A-Wish" foundation in conjunction with the release of the Episode 1 DVD. This year many more 501st and Rebel Legion members gathered for something that we now call MookieCon.

A few imperials were there: TD878, TR1125, TI829, Andrew as the Imperial officer ID1721 who really managed to grab a lot of people into the store, TD501, and George as the scout trooper. Of course the Rebels were represented by Mookie as a Hoth Trooper, Dallas and Jason as a rebel pilots, Lynn as... no, IS "Mom Mothma", Brandi as Amidala, Katie as Zam, MaryAnne as a not so blue Jedi, and Todd, Colleen, Ryan.

We were all surprised that this year, Mike Quinn (who played Nein Numb in Return of the Jedi), was helping out by signing autographs with all proceeds going to Make-A-Wish.

The day started with us trooping around the FYE entrance, taking pictures with the fans and helping to promote the Episode 2 DVD pre-orders. Mike Quinn was all set up to sign autographs for the fans. Many people were surprised and kids stunned at the sight of what looked like characters from Star Wars walking around their local mall.

The fun did not end there. In the evening we traveled over to Don Pablos restauraunt to take part in "Star Wars Night", and to take more photos with the restauraunt patrons. Mike Quinn took out his Sharpies and signed yet more autographs for the restauraunt patrons.

We'd like to thank Amy from FYE, Ralph from Make-A-Wish, and Laurie of Don Pablos for helping raise more than double our amount from last year -- over $1100 US was donated to Make-A-Wish.
