DragonCon 2001 Masquerade Photos and Various Costumes

DragonCon's main masquerade was a showcase for some great costumes. The events started out with some members of the 501st and the Rebel Legion marching across the stage. Imperial officers took the lead, backed up with some Scout troopers and Stormtroopers, followed by Darth Maul and Darth Vader. The Rebel scum followed backed up by a few Jedi. After the parade of Imperials and Rebels swept across the stage, one lone Jedi remained... and after a bit of a song and dance, he revealed his true identity... ANTHONY DANIELS! The MC for the nights festivities.

Mr. Daniels was the night's MC, and he did a superb job by introducing each contestant, and of course toying with a few. Then, after the parade of masquerade entrants had ended and the judges were making their decisions, Mr. Daniels held entertaining, impromptu interviews with costumed people in the audience, much to the delight of everyone present.

Some amazing costumes that remain in my head from the masquerade was an incredible Optimus Prime. This costume was HUGE and was absolutely mind-blowing to see. Cat Woman (inspired form the Tim Burton movies) was also a costume you couldn't take your eyes off of. Her "skit" was quite original, her boy friend actually had Anthony Daniels help out with his marriage proposal to her. I believe she accepted. And don't forget the Blue Meanies!!!!!! The Beatles would be proud!

DragonCon is never a let down when it comes to the variety or the quality of costumes. This is probably the premiere convention for people to show off their works. Some standouts are of course Mookie's Hoth Rebel Trooper (which was featured on Starwars.com), as well as our own Aurra "Bathory" Sing. The uber-cute award goes to that little ewok, who only attacked one Stormtrooper.... a moment of silence for our fallen trooper.
